About Us

Cameras for Conservation was started in 2011 by Steven Stockhall and Guy Symons.
We host Botswana's Wildlife Photographer of the year competition annually to promote conservation through photography, art and film and to showcase the work of the talented people in the country. We aim to use the imagery to conduct talks in schools and to take local children into the country's National Parks and Game Reserves to teach the value of bio-diversity. Our aim is to put a camera in each child’s hands, which they can use to record their journey. This is achieved through donations of cameras and funds from local businesses and individuals both in Botswana and Internationally.
To date we have had over 18 “point and shoot” cameras donated by tourists travelling to Botswana as well as a laptop.
Also, in January 2014, we are taking 18 children from the Bana Ba Letsatsi Orphanage in Maun on our Kids to Bush program kindly sponsored by Theda Knyphausen as well as running photography workshops in partnership with "Children of the Wilderness" in December 2014.
For more info on sponsoring the competition or our Kids to Bush program please download the PDF below or email us on our contact us page.
